Joyce Hardemon was a giving and loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She loved playing cards, especially bridge, travelling and camping with friends. She had many friends whom she loved liked family. She was Meme to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce was always thinking of others. She wanted to make sure everyone had what they needed. She is remembered by her grandchild as making them laugh, playing cards with them, and teaching them dominos.
She was the daughter of John T. and Lucile Pettey who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her husband, Robert S. Hardemon, and three sisters, Libby Summer, Jean Sternenberg, and Mary Anne Guest. Joyce had four children, Pamela Amos (husband, Jerry), Robert S. Hardemon, Jr., Joel Wayne Hardemon, and James Lynn Hardemon (wife, Truly); five grandchildren, Kerri Calvin, Wayne Amos, Sullivan Hardeman, Alex Hardemon and Lellan Hardemon; and four great-grandchildren, Juliet Calvin, Lilly Calvin, Rachel Calvin, and Jackson Hardemon. In addition to her direct descendants, she loved her in-laws, nieces and nephews dearly: the Elliott family, Summer family, Sternenberg family, and Guest family.
She was a member of South Roebuck Bapitst Church for over 60 years. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, make donations to said church at 501 Mountain Drive, Birmingham, AL 35206 and put Joyce Hardemon in the memo section of the check.
