Joseph Odell (Pete) Thorne, longtime resident of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on August 2, 2016. He was born in Titusville, Florida on March 15, 1927. He is a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and a former member of Ruhama Baptist Church. He is survived by his three children: son Joseph Michael Thorne, of Birmingham and his wife Linda McDaniel Thorne and children Callie Angelena Thorne, Joseph Gaeton Thorne and Brandon Pierce Underwood; daughter Elizabeth Thorne Silkes of New York, NY, and her children Sophie Ella Silkes, Katherine Grace Happy, and Robert Carroll Happy 3rd; and son Stephen Drew Thorne of Saint Augustine, FL and his wife Gina Pilar de Peralta Thorne and son Ethan Hyatt Thorne. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Dorothy Helen Thorne Gibbs of Jefferson, GA, and brother, Bobby Earl Thorne of Mims, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Martha Elizabeth Thompson Thorne; his parents Mrs. Belle Shirley Thorne and Mr. Boseman Hyatt Thorne of Titusville, FL, originally of Camden, S.C.; brother Burrell Thomas Thorne; sister Katie Doris Thorne Corbin; and brothers Levy Merlin Thorne and Karl Lee Thorne. Funeral services for Mr. Thorne will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 1591 Gadsden Highway, Trussville, AL on Friday, August 5, 2016, with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 am, followed immediately by graveside services in the Last Supper Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour after the service at 2321 Crossgate Trail, Vestavia, AL.
