During most of the war s/sgt. Robinson was a B-25 crew chief serving with the 42nd Bombing Group of the 13th Air Force at bases in Guadalcanal, New Guinea, and the Philippines. Gene promised the Lord that if he ever got out of the war alive, he would live a better life. He kept that promise. He graduated from David Lipscomb College and dedicated the rest of his life to preaching the Gospel in Birmingham and South Florida area for about 50 years. Most of that time was spent in South Florida Churches of Christ. He also spent 17 years teaching at Miramar High School and Henry D. Perry Middle School in Miramar, Florida. As everyone who knew him, is well aware, Gene was a generous, caring, and just plain wonderful husband, uncle, father and grandfather as well as preacher, teacher, mentor and friend. He was very much loved by many and will be sadly missed by all. A memorial service was conducted at the Deltona Church of Christ on Thursday, April 17, 2014 with burial on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11am Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in Trussville, Alabama.
