Joseph Anthony DeGrado, Jr.

Joseph Anthony DeGrado, Jr., 63, of Trussville, Alabama, died on December 25, 2023. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1960 to Joseph Anthony DeGrado, Sr. and Lena Bell DeGrado, and grew up in the Huffman/Roebuck area. Joseph attended Huffman High School, graduating in 1978 before beginning a 20+ year career in the heavy equipment industry, most recently with TriGreen Equipment in Leeds, Alabama.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lena, his mother-in-law, Ursula Kirkpatrick and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Phyllis Kirkpatrick DeGrado. He is also survived by his four children: Jarred DeGrado (Amber), Kayla Ann Luker (Tyler), Christopher DeGrado (Marsha), and Christina Hogan (Kyle). Joseph was the loving PaPa to Jacob, Colyn and Kameron DeGrado, Sean DeGrado, and William and Eleanor Hogan. Joseph is also survived by other family and friends who love and will miss him. He is also survived by his furry children, Daisy and Beau as well as a host of loving granddogs.

Joseph was a lover of Alabama football, working in his yard and watching his grandchildren participate in all things sports related and dance. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alabama Chapter of the American Heart Association or to the Nick’s Kids Foundation. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
