Long, J.C. (Johnny Charles Jr.), age 66, of Trussville, Alabama, passed away at his home from this earthly life and into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 2, 2013 after a 28 month battle with laryngeal cancer. J.C. was born on September 15, 1946 in Birmingham, AL. He was a graduate of Hewitt Trussville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church. He was the owner of Eastern Excavating LLC and operated heavy equipment digging basements and doing site preparation for 37 years. He loved participating in sporting clay competitions, fishing, hunting, playing golf, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, his friends, his dog Nic, and most of all, his family. He was a loving husband, Dad, Papa, brother and friend. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pam Ragland Long, sons, Jebb Brandon Long and Dr. Jay Charles Long, daughter, Dabney Long Wilson (Michael), granddaughters, Haley Jane Shook and Mackenzie Abigail Long, sister, Annette Long McKee (Harold), brothers, Johnny Paul Long and Danny Wayne Long, and numerous in-laws, cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Charles Long Sr. and Myrtis Jackson Long. Services will be held Tuesday March 5 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home at 2pm in the Chapel with Rev. Bobby Shipp officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm until 7pm Monday. Burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery. The family would like to thank Care First Hospice and all of the caring friends and family during this most difficult time in our lives.
