John Teal

Mr. John Daniel "J.D." Teal, Sr., age 88, of Birmingham, AL passed away on November 13, 2014. He was a loving member and Elder of Five Mile Presbyterian Church and he attended Sunday school at Huffman United Methodist Church Friendship Class. He was an honorably discharged World War II veteran and was retired from BHS - Montclair and was employee of the year in 1988. J.D. served the Lord and others through his talents as a handyman. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Sue Teal; his sisters, Mary Aycock and Clarice Smith; his brother, James Teal. Mr. Teal is survived by his wife, Estelle Brake Teal; his daughter, Polly Teal Shields (James, Jr.); his son John D. Teal, Jr. (Natarshia); his grandson James W. Shields III (Crystal); his step-grandson, Justin McGhee; and his beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 11:00am at Jefferson Memorial Trussville, with Pastor Sharon Eich officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Five Mile Presbyterian Church, 1132 Five Mile Road, Birmingham, AL 35215.
