John Clifton Reese, (Hop), of Trussville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 5, 2012 at the age of 88. The youngest son of John Spencer Reese and Rossie Lola Anderson Reese of Bradford, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Lenora Reese, father John Spencer Reese, mother Rossie Lola Anderson Reese, two brothers, and five sisters. Survivors include four children, Major Retired Robert G. Smothers of Deatsville, Alabama, Dr. Phyllis Ingham of Jacksonville, Alabama, David Smothers of Trussville, Alabama, and Donna Walker of Trussville survive him. Eight grandchildren; Brian Smothers, Staci Myrick, Melissa Gay, Andrew McGill, Matthew McGill, Stephen Walker, Amy Walker, and Shelby Smothers. Six great grandchildren; Nathan Smothers, Owen Myrick, Anna Leigh Myrick, Kaleb Gay, Makayla Gay, and Makenley Gay. John Reese (Hop) before retiring was a Flight Service Specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a proud Veteran having served as a Sergeant of the Ninth Marine Air Wing during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of Deerfoot Baptist Church, Trussville, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Saturday July 7th from 9-10 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Hwy 11 Trussville. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel at Jefferson memorial. Pastor John Simmons First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville Alabama will be officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Memorials for John may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, or to First United Methodist Church Children's Ministry of Jacksonville, Alabama. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
