John Irby

IRBY, JOHN John Irby, age 57 of Birmingham, passed away on December 6, 2012 after a brief illness. He was retired from Northwest Airlines, where he was employed for over 23 years. He was a member of Faith Community Fellowship, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, as well as telling jokes, fishing and watching Alabama football. Mr. Irby was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harmon Irby; brother, Robert Irby; nephew, Robbie Irby; brother-in-law, Billy Kahl; and nephew, Clark Kahl. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Irby; daughter, Tina Harris (Mike); sons, Jeff Strickland (Lisa) and Jonathan Irby (Trina); sisters, Norma Kahl, Glenda Harrison and Betty Haskett; as well as 9 grand children and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, AL from 1:00 until 2:00 pm on Monday, December 10, 2012 with funeral service to follow in the chapel with the Rev. Steve McCarty officiating. A private burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Faith Community Fellowship Building Fund.
