John Grimes

GRIMES, John Elliott, age 84, of Birmingham, Alabama, went to be with his Lord on September 15, 2009. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Chalkville. He served in Company B, 55th Armored Infantry Battalion of the United States Army in World War II and the Korean War, having been honorably discharged receiving a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars.

Survivors include his wife, Anna "Ann" Whitehead Grimes, daughter, Trisha McCary (Wayne), son, Richard Grimes (Sally), and daughter Kathy Albani; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, John Thomas and R. Lona Carnes Grimes; brother, James; and great-grandson, Andrew.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Jefferson Memorial.
