John Greene

John Raudy Greene - 87 of Springville, Alabama passed away peacefully on May 7, 2017. He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Keener M. Greene and Carrie (Adams) Greene, Vann T. Greene (brother) and his true love and wife of 59 years, W. Frances Travis Greene. He is survived by his sister Kay (Greene) Johnson, along with countless nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. John was born in Weogufka, Alabama on September 5, 1929, graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1948. He attended Howard College for two years and attended Auburn University until he was drafted by the U.S. Army where he served and fought in Korea. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Auburn University to finish his studies. He married his sweetheart, Frances Travis on March 22, 1958. John was a member at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He had many gifts and talents: Woodworking; mentoring; friend; and hero to all! He enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and helping Frances to care for all God's creatures. He will be truly missed by all that we lucky enough to know him.
