John Marvin Cox, age 81, of Hoover, AL passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. John was a graduate of Howard University (Samford University). He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after four years of service. He was employed as an Insurance Agent for several years. John was a member of North Park Baptist church where he served his church and community in various positions. He taught Sunday school, was RA director, and served as Brotherhood President. He was a past president of the East End Optimist Club. John enjoyed softball and golfing. He was a generous man that will be missed by many. John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Helen Cox; daughter, Charlotte Leddo (John); son, Johnny Cox (Deloris); one brother, Owen Cox (Pat); grandchildren: Bryan, Nikki, Kimberly, Aaron, Merritt and Kaitlin; two great grandchildren. Funeral service for John will be held at Jefferson Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 30th at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Garden East. Reverend Bill Wilks and Reverend Steven Hall are officiating. Jefferson Memorial in Trussville is directing.
