John Bauer

John R. Bauer, age 82 of Oneonta, AL passed away December 15, 2008. He was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a former member of Roebuck Christian Church where he was baptized. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the Army Air Corp. Mr. Bauer retired from Dial Corp in 1990 as a sales manager and also worked at Hunt Wesson Food, for approximately 20 years in sales and management, where he excelled with numerous awards as top salesman. He Graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL and attended graduate school at Northwestern in Evanston, IL. He was preceded in death by his son Steve Bauer in August of 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Grace Bauer; daughter: Aleda Kleckner (Dave Nichols) of North Carolina; sons: Kent (Lainey) Bauer of Marietta, GA, Doug Bauer (Laura Pappas) of Lawrenceville, GA, and Layton Bauer (Kristie) of Pelham, AL; one brother Ron Bauer of Metamora, IL; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 2:00PM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00-8:00PM.
