ABERCROMBIE, JR., JOHN W. "JOHNNY" Of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away at his home in Alabaster the evening of Tuesday, August 14, after a long battle with throat cancer. He was predeceased by his father, mother and one sister. Johnny is survived by his wife and soul mate, Barbara, also a daughter Sharon Wallace (Frank) of Trussville, Alabama, his son, Wesley Abercrombie (Tracy) of Suwannee, Georgia, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a sister, Gayle Price (Ed), a sister-in-law, Betty Palmer, and numerous nieces and nephews. A professional musician, Johnny was also a retired Sergeant with the Birmingham Police Department and retired as the Revenue Officer with the City of Montevallo, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Trussville, Alabama, on Saturday, August 18 with viewing and visitation at 11 A.M. followed by service at 12 noon. Pastor Norman Stapp and Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Cancer Society in Johnny's name will be appreciated.
