Joan Pope

Joan Little Pope passed away August 24, 2013, due to complications from an automobile accident. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Joan was born March 26, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the daughter of Jack and Eva Little. Joan was a beloved and active member of First Baptist Church of Center Point since 1968 where she leaves behind a multitude of friends. Thursdays were always reserved for bridge with her dearest friends where they met at Cumberland Country Club. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Nothing pleased her more than visits from her great grandchildren: Cade and Maci Underwood; Ava and Anna Pair; Max Pair; and her special granddog, Rolo. You will never meet anyone more kind or humble than Joan. She will be remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Ervin Pope; her children Sheree Pair (Lawrence) and Jeff Pope (Ginger); and her grandchildren Jacquelyn Underwood (Todd), Allen Pair (Amanda), and Shane Pair (Andrea). The family will receive friends Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 10am until 12pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with funeral services being held in the Chapel at 12:00pm. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at NICU, UAB Birmingham; Nolan Health Services at St. Vincent's East; and nurses and staff at Magnolia Ridge Gardendale.
