REEVES, JEWELL BLACK, age 86, of Birmingham, died on April 15, 2009. She was a partner of Mid-South Aircraft. Mrs. Reeves was the daughter of Lawton Solomon Black and Mary Lavada Robinson Black and grew up in Adamsville, AL, and surrounding towns. In 1941, she married James E. Reeves, of Piedmont, AL, in Norfolk, VA. Jewell worked at the Norfolk Naval Station. In the 1950s she helped her husband establish a successful aircraft parts business. They were married 56 years at his death in 1997. They raised three children: James E. Reeves, Jr. of Trussville; Sandra Reeves of Washington DC, and Ronald "Rocky" D. Reeves (Cindy) of Birmingham. In addition to her children, she is survived by four grandchildren, James E. Reeves, III (Sue) of Trussville; Vicki Mann (Paul) of Mt. Olive, Stephen A. Reeves of Birmingham; and Melissa Curlee Ghikas (Demitri) of Ft. Bliss, TX, and one great-grandson, David S. Vaughn, of Mt. Olive, AL. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18th at 12pm noon in the chapel of Jefferson Memorial Gardens, with visitation from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, April 17th.
