Jewel Tassie

Jewel Smith Clanton Tassie, age 86 of Birmingham, AL passed away on June 20, 2011. She was a member of Eastern Star in Sandpoint, Idaho. She volunteered at Bonner County Hospital in Sandpoint, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter G. Smith and Christia Amanda Smith, sister, Dolly O'Hare, sister-in-law, Norma Smith and brother-in-law, O.C. Bracewell. She was a loving mother to one son, loving grandmother to four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, also loving mother to two step-children, grandmother to five step-grandchildren, and seven step- great grandchildren. She is survived by son, John W. Clanton (Hazel); sisters, Francis Bracewell, Betty Ramsdale (Charles) and Rebecca Uzabel (Joseph); brother, James Smith; brother-in-law, Barney O'Hare; grandchildren, Tina Davis (Eric), Darrell Clanton, Karen Clanton (Charles Chambers), and Shellie Talley (Beau); great grandchildren, Erin and Nathan Davis, Sydney Elkins, Graeson, Baylan, and Brysan Clanton; great great grandchildren, Rylee Davis and Dallas Meeks; surviving spouse, Lawrence Tassie; step-children, Susie Hansen (Lyle) and Randy Tassie; step-grandchildren, Dan Hansen (Heidi), Bruce Hansen (Nancy), Tamara Littlejohn (Bradley), Shawn Tassie (Cassie), and Sara Tassie Woods; step-great grandchildren, Guinevere and Jude Littlejohn, Luke and Lydia Hansen, Conner Tassie, Credance and Kiley Woods. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. The family will receive friends at the home of John and Hazel Clanton in Trussville on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Dr. John Mills officiating over the services.
