Jewel Sumerel

Jewel McDuff Sumerel, 84, of Wilsonville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2020.  She was born on January 25, 1936 to the late Kelsie & Rosie McDuff in Brilliant, Alabama. Jewel graduated from Brilliant High School in 1954. She married the late Clyde H. Sumerel in 1954. They were happily married for 63 years. Jewel is survived by 2 children, Danny W.Sumerel (Lucretia) and Sheila Clemons (John).  Jewel is survived by 8 grandchildren, Shannon, Amanda, Timothy Jr., Wade, and Julie Sumerel, Courtney Rearden (Scott), John Daniel Peel, and Shelby Peel, and 3 great grandchildren, Caleb , Olivia, and Kate. She is survived by 2 sisters, Alma Dean Gulsby and Jimmie Neal Westbrook, and 2 brothers, Kenneth McDuff and Bob McDuff (Stella). She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by 2 children, Michael F, Sumerel, and Timothy P. Sumerel, 2 sisters, Janette McDuff and Linda Sue Herren. Jewel was a retired LPN from Medical Center East. Jewel was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. Viewing will be from 9am until 10am and Ceremony will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville, Al, on Wednesday, September 02, at 10am. Reverend Dr. Dwayne McDuff will be officiating the service.
