Jewel Murphy

MURPHY, JEWEL JOE Age 84, Joe died peaceful at his residence in Birmingham on October 8, 2012. He was born in Talmo, GA to the late, W.J. and Ethel Murphy. He is predeceased by his brothers, Johnny and Jay Murphy; and sister, Grace Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Betty Murphy; children, Mike, Mark, and Greg (Jennifer) Murphy, Elizabeth (Terry) House, and Martha Herron; stepsons, Terry Cameron and Jimmie (Tammy) Cameron; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Lee Sikes; brother, Royce Murphy; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He also served his country by enlisting in the Marine Corp and U.S. Army in WWII. He served in the Combat Zone and was a Sharpshooter for the Marines; he was also a life member of the VFW Post 668. Services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 3:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
