Jetta Mathews

Jetta M. Mathews, age 85, was welcomed into Heaven on March 30, 2018. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted wife. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie C. Mathews, of 61 years; parents Cecil McConnell and Lola Carley Barr; step-dad, Kleaborn "Blondie" Barr; and sister Mary Hawkins. She graduated from Woodlawn High School. She then went on to work for Liberty National, which she retired from after 25 years of faithful hard work. She also was a very devoted member of Mtn. View Baptist Church and served in the children's ministry for over 40 years. Mrs. Jetta is survived by her sons; Keith Mathews (Linda), Philip Mathews (Cheryl), Terry Mathews, and Lynn Mathews; sister Betty Coonts; grandchildren; James Mathews (Erin), Eryn Carl (Jason), Daniel Mathews (Chelsea), Elana Bolling (Matt), Jacob Mathews, Emily Mathews (Roberts), Jeremy Mathews and Mason Mathews; great-grandchildren; Emma White, Taylor Mathews, Anderson Mathews, Evelyn Mathews, Madison Carl, Savannah Carl, Noah Carl, Camden Carl, Ryder Mathews, Colt Mathews, Katie Bolling, Kayden Reardon, and Emerie Mathews. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, Al on Tuesday April 3, 2018 from 5-7 pm. The celebration of life for Jetta Mathews will be held at Jefferson Memorial April 4, 2018 at 2 pm with Dr. Michael R. Rouse officiating.
