Jerry Self

Jerry Douglas Self (affectionately known as Paw) of Birmingham, AL went to his eternal home on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the age of 85.

Jerry grew up in the Roebuck Community and graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School.  He was an Engineering graduate of Auburn University where he also competed on the wrestling team.

He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, reading and was an advocate for healthy nutritional habits.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Frankie Self, his son, Matthew Self and grandson, Michael Self.  He is survived by his sister, Carlene Thornton; children, Lisa Edwards (Robin), Jason Self (Shannon), Sara Wilcoxen (Matt), Tracy Raymond (Jeff); grandchildren, Savannah and Isabella Edwards, Shelby and Matthew Self, Rylan and Savanna  Wilcoxen, Hayley Lovetto, Somer Staula, Ethan Raymond; nieces, Tressa and Kathi Thornton; cousins, Bill and Randy Basham,  Charlotte Holman, Jim Turman, Barbara Moffit and Leonard Self.

A graveside service will be held for Jerry on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 12:00PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville, AL.
