Jerry Payton, Sr.

Jerry Wayne Payton, Sr., age 81 of Chilton County, AL passed October 20, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Grover Lee and Ruth LE Payton on February 25, 1941.  He was an Army veteran and retired truck driver with over fifty years of experience. He was loving and kind with a gentle soul. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Renee` Payton.  He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Patsy Payton. Jerry also leaves behind a sister, Anita Abney (Daniel), and brother, Fred Tucker (Darlene), as well as his children; Jerry “Skeet” Wayne Payton, Jr (Susan), Randy Morgan, Johnny Payton (Cindy), Terresa Lambert (Bill), Ronnie Morgan (Deanna), and Tammy Darden (Thomas Wynn). Grandchildren; Christopher Payton (Grace); Jeremy Payton, Misty Cowan (Allen), Joey Payton (Ariel), Natalie Hailey (James), William Lambert, III, Jessica Hiatt, Angela Sorenson, Nicholas Vines (Elizabeth), Courtney Roe (Josh), Brittany Martin (Wayne), Lauren Darden, and Sophie Darden. He also leaves behind Karson Darden, Lyla Savell and twenty-three additional great-grandchildren.  A visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, October 28th from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a private service for family only to follow.
