Jerry Long

Jerry James Long peacefully slipped from this world into the hands of God at his home on July 2nd, 2010. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 5 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Chapel services beginning at 12:00 PM with Pastor Ernie Willis and Brother Rob Caine officiating Entombment will follow at the Long's private mausoleum in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery. Jerry is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Brenda Gortney Long; son Jeremy Long and wife Kelley, their children Jordan, Caleb, Garrett and Bragan, all of Trussville; daughter Krista Adams and husband Barry, their children LeAnna and Treasure, all of Hoover. Jerry was preceeded in death by his parents, James Otis Long and Ruby Long Stephens (step-father Douglas Stephens); brother Joe Long; and beloved in-laws Clarence and Beulah Gortney, all of Ashland, AL.

Jerry was born on June 28th,1947 in Sylacauga, AL. He graduated from Clay County High School, and Auburn University. He spent 30+ years in the computer/sales industry. Jerry was a member of Springville Road Community Church. The family wishes to thank all friends and family that has been there through Jerry's lengthy illness. A special thank you to Butch and Freida Box and family and caregiver Carol Brown.

Pallbearers will be Jerry's closest friends. Jerry will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather (Poppy), and friend. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
