Mrs. Jerry Ann Peebles Kendrick, 85, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on September 10th, 2021. While it is so difficult to say goodbye to someone we love with all our hearts, we find comfort in the long-awaited heavenly reunion with her youngest son, Jerry “Dale” Kendrick, Sr.
Jerry Ann was born on July 24th, 1936, in Sandusky, Alabama, daughter of the late Jake and Mary Peebles. She was raised in Adamsville, Alabama, along with her sister, Peggy, and three brothers, Billy, Jack and Ronald.
She married Jackson H. Kendrick, Sr., her beloved husband of 66 years, on August 13th, 1955. She was a wonderful mother to her three sons, Donnie Kendrick, Jackson H. Kendrick, Jr. (Donna), and Jerry Dale Kendrick, Sr. (Donnette). Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren, Brad Kendrick, Dale Kendrick (Brooke), Brandy Sutherlin (Craig), and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Ella, Asher, Crew and Emmie.
Jerry Ann, better known as “Granny”, treasured her time spent with her husband, sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took great joy in cooking, baking and sharing recipes with her friends and family. Her famous coconut cake was the most requested dessert at every family gathering. She loved collectibles and antiques, but most of all, she loved being “Mother” and “Granny”.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 15th, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. The funeral service, officiated by Charles Click, will take place at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
