Jerry Earl Hazel (June 17, 1946 – June 5, 2018)
Jerry Earl Hazel, 71, of Trussville, Al., went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on June 5, 2018. Jerry was born in Coosa County and raised in Trussville, where he graduated from Hewitt Trussville High School. In 1971, he joined the Birmingham Police Department where he worked for more than 20 years. He retired as a Sergeant in 1992. He went on to become a contractor and establish Jerry Hazel Construction where he spent more than 25 years building fine family homes. He was also a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Trussville.
Jerry was a devoted husband, father and friend. He loved many things; weekends at Lake Logan Martin, cheering on The Crimson Tide at the University of Alabama and restoring antique cars and hot rods. Above all else, he loved his family and was fiercely devoted to everyone in his life.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda, his daughter, Kimberly (Brett) Johnson and his grandchildren Reece, Drake and Coye, who will be born later this summer. He is also survived by his daughter, Dawn (Carlos) Martinez and his granddaughter, Angelina. He is also survived by his sisters, Micshelle (Terry) DeWitt, and Darthey Jackson, brother, William (Kathy) Hazel, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Jemmie R. Hazel, his father, Grover W. Hazel, his sisters, Mary Herndon and Betty Crouse and his brother, Jimmy Joe (Fran) Hazel.

Centers of Alabama, as well as the nursing staff at St. Vincent’s East Hospital.
The funeral service will be Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. The family will receive visitors from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. The memorial service will begin at 2 p.m.
