Jerry Esslinger

The Lord, in His love and sovereignty, brought Jerry Frederick Esslinger, 82, of Trussville, AL, home on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife, Genell Esslinger, his two surviving children, Cindy Esslinger Nix (Mark), Fred Esslinger (Ann), and daughter Kathy Esslinger who proceeded him in death. Jerry was greatly loved by his four grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Joel Nix (Courtney), Jacob Nix (Ashley), Katherine Esslinger Walls (Alex), and Lauren Esslinger. He was adored by his great-grandchildren: Junior and Mabrey Nix, and soon to be born Ellington Walls and Eli Nix. Jerry was raised in Eastlake with a large, loving family and is survived by his brother George Esslinger. He served in the US Armed Forces from 1953-1956. He also worked as Advertising Sales Manager at the Birmingham News and Post Herald for thirty years, and is a long-time member at Trussville First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, November 30th, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with service to follow in the chapel at 2:00.
