Jeanne Mason

Jeanne Anne Willis Mason, 90, died on February 8, 2016 at Fair Haven Retirement Community where staff and hospice workers lovingly cared for her. She was born on January 29, 1926 in Miami, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Mason, her parents Maxwell V. and Marie B. Willis, and her siblings Virginia Mitchell, Mary Larkin, and Max Willis. Jeanne graduated from high school in Montgomery, AL and became a registered nurse in Mobile, where she also married the love of her life Rev. Donald M. Mason. Jeanne was mother to four daughters and worked diligently to be a good United Methodist minister's wife in the North Alabama Conference. After her husband's death in 1968, she attended UAB and earned her MS Nursing Degree and went on to teach nursing at St. Vincent's School of Nursing. In retirement, she loved spending time with her 9 grandchildren. Jeanne is survived by her daughters Priscilla (John) Newton, Edith (Lee) Howington, Donna (John)Mason Smith, and Cindy (David) Burrage along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in Trussville, AL on Saturday, February 13th at 10:00 a.m., with visitation an hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Camp Sumatanga, Gallant, AL.
