Mae Jeanette Black Andrews, (80), of Birmingham, passed away quietly on October 8, 2015 after a brief illness. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She graduated from West End High School in 1952. Mrs. Andrews worked in the Traffic Department of U.S. Steel's Fairfield Works for several years. She was employed at Birmingham-Southern College for 39 years as a secretary for President Emeritus Dr. Neal R. Berte. She retired May 17, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bramlett T. Black and Evie Tucker Black; her husband, the Rev. John H. Andrews; two sisters, Mary Heaton (Harrison) and Josephine Black, and one brother, John Black; and nephew Stephen Heaton. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Renee Andrews, and her sister June Foster (James), and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, October 12, from 11am until and service at Noon at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville, Al. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Fairhaven Nursing Home and OPTUM hospice workers who provided excellent, compassionate service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Huffman United Methodist Church, Birmingham-Southern College or the Alzheimer's Foundation. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
