Jean passed away September 15, 2020 after a brief illness. She was selfless, determined and resourceful. Jean was also plain-spoken, brash and fun to talk and laugh with. Never one to act or dress her age, she loved well-coordinated jewelry, shoes, nails and hair. Jean lived life fully, riding her wave-runner at the lake well into her 70’s. She kept her house, yard and even her street nearly spotless.
Jean’s faith was simple. She lived her beliefs through generous actions and care for all. Each day with Charlie began and ended with a kiss. She was as “salty” as sweet, and will be remembered for the many fun and meaningful ways she made her family’s lives richer.
Jean is survived by her husband of over 72 years, Charles G. Brown and sister, Margaret Cosby; daughters, Linda Ellis (Bob-Dothan), Deanna Phillips (TN), Bridgett Rucks (Jeff, Sr.-Birmingham); grandsons, Charles Phillips (Stacy), Tim Ellis (Jamie), Jeff Rucks, Jr. (Stephanie), Jay Rucks (Carolyn); granddaughters, Jennifer Thomas (Eric), Terri Adams (Daniel), Joey Farris (Cory) and Bridgett Rager (Jeff); great grandchildren, Anna and Austin Thomas; Trevor and Savannah Adams; Logan and Lauren Phillips; Chase Phillips (Kassie) and Cheyenne Shelton; Emily, Jaxon and Everleigh Rucks; Charisma and Lorelei Farris and niece, Kim Tillman (Cecil). She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Blanche Tonnemacher; siblings, Inez Carter, Charles (Doodle) Tonnemacher and Floyd (Cotton) Tonnemacher.
A family memorial service is planned. Memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Wiregrass Hope Group (Dothan AL).
