Janice Gail Carter passed away from this imperfect world on February 13, 2019 after a courageous and valiant battle with metastatic breast cancer. Even though her physical being is no longer with us, she will live on in our hearts forever. Janice was a friend to all and her gentle spirit and outgoing personality could make those around her feel better just by being in her presence. Janice loved her family and friends and someone once said that her middle initial G stood for GO because she was always ready to participate in living life to its fullest. Janice loved softball and played both fast pitch with The Little Devils and played and coached slow pitch with several teams. It was always fun to gather with former players and listen to them reminisce about times gone by. In August 2018 Janice was inducted into The Central Alabama Softball Hall of Fame and this honor meant the world to her. Playing cards and board games with friends and family brought her immense pleasure. Even on her not-so-good days, a card game would bring a smile to her face. Other interests include beach trips, cruises with friends, playing on her iPad, going out to eat, and supporting her nieces and nephews in their various activities. She loved making candy each Christmas with her Aunt Christina who preceded her in death. They would make Martha Washington Balls, Pecan Rocha, Peanut Butter Fudge, and Fruitcakes. Janice's pimento cheese was a culinary delight. She taught numerous subjects and coached basketball and volleyball in Blount County School at Locust Fork, Alabama where her family resided for many years. She was a positive influence on the lives of former students and coworkers. Janice is survived by two brothers, Mike Carter (Wanda) and Mark Carter. She leaves behind nieces and nephews, Brandon Carter, Teri Carter (David), Josh Jonson and Jacob Carter. Great nieces and nephews who will miss her are, Sydney, Carter, Catherine, Amelia and Sawyer Clyde. Survivors also include Judy Bryan, Marni Hall (Phillip), William Bryan (Kathy), Patricia Heaphy (Kipp), Jeffery Hawkins (Julia), Shane, Shawn, Michael, and Christopher Bryan, Soleil and Zephyr Bryan and all extended family not related by blood, but related by love who will miss Janice. She made our lives better. There is a small plaque hanging in Janice's home that simply says We Are Blessed. These few words sum the totality of the relationship we all had with Janice. In lieu of flowers the family and extended family request donations be made to The Bell Center, 914 Oak Grove Road, Homewood Alabama 35209 in honor of her nephew Sawyer who she adored.
