Janet Barber

E. Janet Halbrooks Barber, age 89 of Birmingham, passed away May 15, 2009. She was retired from Hayes International and was a member of Center Point Methodist Church for 54 years. She was a former president of Women's Chamber and volunteered at East End Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. and Carrie Wright Halbrooks and a sister, Inez H. Greene. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Melvin A. Barber; son, David (Lindalu) Barber; daughter, Jan (Charles) Denaburg; sisters, Billie H. Adderhold of Birmingham, Dot H. (Tom) Horton of Daytona Beach, FL, and Donnie H. (Gerald) Guthrie of Birmingham; brothers, Thomas J. Halbrooks, Jr. of Birmingham and James E. (Millie) Halbrooks of Birmingham; 5 grandchildren, Jyl W. (Kevin) Moore, Joel D. (Mindy) Barber, Rhett (Nicole) Wood, Julie B. (Jeff) Hanner, and Jenny Lou B. (Chris) Grindle; and numerous great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, May 18, 2009 from 11:00AM-12:00PM with a service to follow at noon in the chapel. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
