James L. "Jim" Wigley

1947 — September 19, 2024

Leeds

James L. Wigley, known to his loved ones as Jim, or Jimmy passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old.

Jim was the beloved husband of Linda Wigley, his partner in life and love for 56 years. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and unconditional love. Their bond was an enduring testament to devotion, and Linda often referred to Jim as her greatest blessing.

Family was at the heart of Jim's world. He was the proud father of two sons, Jay and Jody and cherished grandfather to Morgan (Taylor Thornton), Emily, Madelyn and Tess and great-grandfather to Parker.

As a father and grandfather, Jim was present for every moment—never missing a sporting event, dance recital, or band performance. He instilled in his sons the values of honor and integrity, whether it was through their Boy Scout adventures or the countless camping trips where he led by example.

Jim’s deep love for the Lord was the foundation of his life. He was an active member of Cedar Grove Baptist church, and previously served as a deacon of Valley View Baptist church and a steadfast believer in the power of faith. He often reminded his family, “God is in control,” a phrase that guided him through life’s challenges and joys. His favorite Bible verse was Ecc 3:1-8.

An Atlanta Braves fan and loyal follower of SEC football, Jim’s enthusiasm for sports was infectious. But more than that, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with Linda , time with family, the satisfaction of a hard day's work, and the blessings of each day.

For over 40 years, Jim worked for ACIPCO, a career that provided for his family and instilled in his sons the value of a strong work ethic. His dedication and commitment were a model for those around him, both at work and at home.

In his younger years, Jim served his country with honor as a medic in the U.S. Army. His love for his country was deep and unwavering, and he was proud of the time he spent serving overseas.

Jim leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family. His life was a reflection of the values he held dear—faith, family, and hard work—and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother Sara Wigley , father Wallace Wigley and brother Wallace “Bucky” Wigley.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, his sons Jody (Jill) and Jay (Mylane) his grandchildren, and his great grandson.
