James T. White, age 96, of Center Point, Alabama, passed away on Aug 10, 2017. He was born in Greenfield, TN on June 18, 1921 to his parents Pauline Cox White and Harry H. White who along with his parents moved to Birmingham in 1923. He was educated in the Birmingham school system graduating from Phillips High School in January of 1940. Afterwards, he received graduate certificates in Business Management from I.C.S. School of Correspondence in Scranton, PA and in accounting from Lasalle Institute in Chicago, Ill. He was employed for 40 years at McWane Cast Iron Pipe Co. retiring in 1983 as Credit Manager. He was a member of Gardendale's First Baptist Church and was on the ushering staff of the church. He is survived by his wife Ellen H. White who were married 70 years, his son James Michael White (Stephanie), his daughter Toni Lawson (Fred), grandchildren Monti White, Eric Lawson, Ellie Green (Kevin), great-grandchildren Stephanee Simmons, Brett Barron, Whitley Lawson and Jaxon Glenn, great-great- grandchildren Farrah and Raiyna. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville on Saturday from 1pm until 2pm. Immediately after visitation, funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Leon Zalenski with burial to follow at the cemetery.
