James Edward Tucker Sr. age 72 of Pelham, AL. Passed away on June 2, 2015. He was a wonderful husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster, AL. He was a chaplain with the FOP, lodge 64- life member, was a member of Alabama Peace Officer Association, Alabama Police Chiefs Associations- life member. A Shriner and a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders. He served 4 years in the United States Navy. 2 years with the Gardendale Police Department. 3 years with the Jefferson County Police Department. He spent 26 years with the Vestavia Hills Police Department, retired as lieutenant, and five and a half years with Columbiana Police Department, retired as Chief. He was preceded in death by his parents Coleman E. Tucker and Tessie O. Tucker. His brothers Robert and Gerald Tucker and his son James Edward Tucker, Jr. He is survived by his wife Renee Tucker; children, Sherri Sartain (Mike), David Tucker, Diane Estes (Lee), Kaylea Tucker and Morgan Tucker; sisters, Betty Rogers and Deborah Black; brothers, Steve Tucker (Nadine) and Jack Tucker (Cathy); grandchildren, James Edward Tucker, III, Matthew Tucker, Chase Sartain, Christi Sartain, and Blake Estes; great grandson, Tucker Sartain; sister in law, Norma Tucker and Karen Tucker; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. The burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Pastor Rick Swing will be officiating over the services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Parkinson's Foundation.
