James Sumpter

James Randall Sumpter, 72, of Trussville, AL (formerly of Oneonta, AL), passed away on January 12, 2018. Jim owned Valley Ford in Oneonta for 36 years, and had a 50+ year career in the automobile business. He proudly served his country with the Georgia National Guard in the late 1960s. Jim is preceded in death by his father, James Edward Sumpter Jr., his mother, Nancy Michel Sumpter, and his grandson, Carson James Sumpter. He is survived by his wife, Susan Brasher Sumpter of Trussville, AL; his son, James Dudley Sumpter (Jennifer) of Pelham, AL; his daughter, Jennifer Gowers Davis (Tim) of Birmingham, AL; his daughter, Lisa Sumpter Rutledge (Brad) of Oneonta, AL; Grandchildren Clayton McMillen, Madison Schwarz, and Cassidy Sumpter; his sister Nancy S. Kirby (Walt) of Saratoga Springs, NY; several nieces and nephews; and innumerable friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. All services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, AL.
