James Edward Spencer, Jr. (Jim) went to receive his eternal reward from his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, July 20, 2012. He was at his home with his family by his side. Jim was born on October 11, 1940 in Knoxville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. James Edward Spencer, Sr., Conilee Ramsey Spencer and brother John Spencer. He is survived by 6 siblings- June Perkey, Phyllis Parks (Charles), Sue Chesney (James), Bill Spencer (Joyce), Mary Williams (Stanley), and Ron Spencer (Patsy); his loving wife of 46 years, Sandra Scarbrough Spencer; his 5 children- Angela Bowman, Caren Houghton, Kimberley Velez, Khristie Johnson (Bo) and Mary Spencer Flanagan (John). Jim had 14 grandchildren - Amanda Perry (Hue); Ashlee Thomas; Donovan, Kameron & Jaala Velez; Hannah, Sarah, Joshua & Rebekah Johnson; Abigail Flanagan; Claire, Joel, Jemma & Kelli Houghton; 3 great grandchildren-Hudson & Harper Perry and Lily-Belle White. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a Korean War Veteran, worked in the South Pacific with RCA, and retired after many years of employment from Norfolk Southern Railway as a General Supervisor. He went on to work with the Federal Railroad Administration where he retired again after several years. Jim was a Christian man who served the Lord faithfully and will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. Services to be held at Jefferson Memorial on Tuesday, July 23 with visitation beginning at 2pm and funeral at 3pm in the Chapel. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
