James Mckaig

James N. McKaig, Sr., age 74, of Birmingham passed away on July 31, 2009. Mr. McKaig was a member of The Episcopal Church of The Holy Cross, Trussville, AL. Jim was a former Captain in the military. His interests included flying small planes, golf and scuba diving. Jim also played as a defensive end in the NFL for the Detroit Lions. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, June K. McKaig; their sons, James N. McKaig, Jr. and Keller W. McKaig (Alisha); one sister, Janice Homeyer. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Krystal M. Torcivia (Sal) and grandson, Morgan K. McKaig, who affectionately knew him as "Poppa". He was loved by family and friends and will be deeply missed. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2009, at 3:00 PM in The Last Supper Mausoleum in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East with Father Aaron D. Raulerson officiating.
