On November 30th, James “Jim” Love passed to be with our Lord after a long battle with cancer. He was 79 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Joseph Love and Willie Bell Edmonson Love, grandson Travis Adams, and a dear cousin William Love.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lavonne Love and their children, TaRena Sosinski, Tammy Nelson, Edward & Jill Heinecke, Matthew & Naomi Heinecke, Becky & Joe Badolato, and Holly & Lance Saunders; 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and siblings Rhonda Love-Sports of Phenix City, Alabama and Bobby Love of Columbia, Alabama. Jim was born in Dothan, Alabama and attended Columbia High School before joining the Air Force at age 18.
Born in rural Alabama to a family of farmers, Jim farmed most of his life before becoming a semi truck driver to support his family. As he entered retirement, his favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, cheering for his grandchildren in their many sporting activities, and rooting for his favorite teams the Alabama Crimson Tide and Atlanta Braves. Jim was a kind and loving husband, father, and “gramps” who will be missed dearly by his loved ones.
A memorial service for James Love is scheduled for 12:00 pm on December 4th at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home at 1591 Gadsden Highway in Birmingham. Viewing begins at 11:00 am.
