Keith, James Richard (Red), age 85, of Birmingham, AL, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Keith & Theresa Louise Leatherwood Keith; brothers, Claude Keith and Clyde Keith; and, sisters, Pearl Hill and Opal Bonilla. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence Wallace Keith; two daughters, Kathy K. Stokes (Johnny) and Karen K. Perrin (Sonny); seven grandchildren: Stacy R. Stokes, Johnny R. Stokes, Jr., Whitney C. Perrin, Rhonda P. Oakes (David), Sherry P. Dudley (Shane), Stephanie P. Rich, Donna L. Perrin; 9 great-grandchildren: Sean, Patrick, Priscilla, Kristen, Hannah, Seth, Christian, Cole, and Natalie; one sister, Dorothy K. Conaway; one brother, Fred E. Keith (Lois); numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, church family, and many friends. Mr. Keith was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church and a former member of Irondale First Baptist Church. His love for family and friends showed in all that he did in life to witness to others about Jesus. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service Clerk and a World War II Veteran, U.S. Army Air Corps. He was an avid fisherman and belonged to Rex Lake Sportsman Club where he was honored with several trophies and recognized for his expertise in the art of fishing. The family gives special thanks and appreciation for the loving care given to Mr. Keith over many years by his doctors and nurses and the Andrew Sunday School Class, Crestwood Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be the following nephews: Farris Hill, Keith Conaway, Tim Keith, Allen Bailey, Howard Allen Smith, and Greg Cain. Larry Tidwell, nephew, will be singing and Dr. James Wilson, pastor, will be officiating during the memorial service. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville.
