James Hurt

HURT, JAMES H. age 78, of Pinson, AL passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013. James was a U.S. Army Veteran. He ran track while attending Howard College and also, attended the University of Alabama. James was a long-time member of Lakewood Baptist Church of Birmingham for 40 years. He retired from South Trust Bank as a Bank Conversion Specialist after 40 years of service. James was a big fan of baseball and enjoyed fishing, solving crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed a little golf on occasions. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lena; brothers, Gladden Hurt, John Hurt, Jr. and sister, Mary Louise Harvey. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sheila Hurt; sons, Lee Phillip Hurt and Paul Richard Hurt; brother, Cecil Hurt (Faye); sister, Rose Steiner; nieces, Alison Steiner, Caren Higdon, and Marti Mulkey; nephews, Michael Steiner, Cecil Hurt Jr. and Cary Hurt, John Mulkey, Jack Harvey III, David Harvey, and Steve Harvey. Family will receive friends Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Lakewood Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Reverend E. L. Mullen will be officiating.
