James Housch

Housch, James Gregory "Greg" passed away on January 6, 2014. Greg was born June 2, 1948 in Fayette, Alabama. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Debra; son, Brett and his wife, Jill; grandson, Jaden; mother, Tava Housch; mother-in-law, Margaret Owensby; brother, Tony Housch (Patti); sisters, Susan Tyler, Ramona Dodd, Melissa Badgwell (Tim), and Jamie Reich (Rich); sister-in-law Sherry Ceruzzi (Frank); brother-in-law, Phillip Owensby (Becky); and many loved nieces and nephews. He graduated from Jones Valley High School and received his master's degree in public administration from UAB. After serving in the military, he began his career in public service at the Jefferson County Department of Health. He retired from the City of Birmingham. He and Debra enjoyed retirement in Orange Beach, Alabama for 16 years. Although he professed to be a world champion Rook player, neither Debra nor their close friends Larry and Sue Randolph would confirm or deny that claim. Greg enjoyed reading and was an avid fisherman and hunter. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2:00PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home family will receive friends one hour prior.
