James Gladney

James Clifford Gladney (Jim) passed away peacefully in his home Monday, 12 July 2021, at the age of 71, surround by his loving family after a long fight with covid19. He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 24 years, Paula Ballew Gladney, of Altus, OK. Jim was born on February 3, 1950 in Cullman, Alabama to the late Carl Judson Gladney and Nettie Louise (Barnett) Gladney. He graduated Samford University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion and Theology. Upon graduation, he served as youth pastor at Ruhama Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL; where he met and married his first wife, Elizabeth (McCullough), they had one child Holly Suzanne. Jim worked for Carraway Methodist Medical Center for 26 years in the Staffing Department before the hospitals closing. He then continued his career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He worked for the Department of Urology, where he served many different rolls during his 19 years of service before his retirement in 2020. He was a member of the Holy Infant of the Prague Church. He is survived by his daughter Holly Gladney Posey (Adrian); grandsons, Marcus James Posey and Alexander Gabriel Posey; 3 Sister-in-laws, cousins’, friends, and longtime coworkers. Per his request and wishes there will be no service. His remains will be interred into his crypt, next to his wife during a private moment on Monday. In lieu of flowers his family ask that donations be made to a charity of your choice or to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation in his name.
