James Andrew Gamble

James A. Gamble, age 87, of Hanceville, AL, passed away on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with funeral services to follow. Pastor Brad Moseley to officiate. Arrangements under the direction of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens. Interment to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

James was the oldest of eight children. He graduated from Hanceville High School and earned his associate’s degree from Jefferson State Community College. He was drafted into the Army in 1961 and was a drill sergeant until being honorably discharged in 1963. After returning home he went to work at A&P Grocery Store, before meeting the love of his life, Linda Wallace. They married on March 10, 1964. He worked several jobs before he found his passion for sales at Wrigley’s Chewing Gum. He loved working for Wrigley’s, and he always had a pack of gum for anybody that wanted it. He had a smile that lit up a room, an infectious laugh and gave hugs that you never wanted to end. He loved God, his family and everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda; three children, Debra Shirley (Fred), Lisa Shunnarah, Ray Gamble (Katherine); six grandchildren, Miranda Spradling (Michael), Caila Gamble, Saba Shunnarah, Savannah Shunnarah, Catherine Gamble, Cloe Gamble; two great grandchildren, Keegan and Kason Spradling; seven siblings, Ann Evans, Sue Dean (Durwood), Gene Gamble (Marilyn), Allen Gamble (Diane), Molly Sloan (Carlos), Lynn South, Charles “Kayro” Gamble; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

James is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Ruby Gamble.

The Pallbearers will be Saba Shunnarah, Brian Wallace, Greg Cain, Ed Cain, Kyle Sloan, Chris Sloan and Nathan Freeman.
