James Earl Ewing

James was born on March 16, 1926 in Lorain, Ohio and passed away on March 26, 2014 in Birmingham, AL at the age of 88. He grew up in Hanceville and Tarrant, AL finished Tarrant High School in 1944 then went into the U.S. Marine Corps and participated in the Battle of Iwo Jima. James married Billie Dean on Nov. 25, 1948 they have been married 65 years as of March 2014. He retired from Southern Company Services with 38 years of service. James was a member of NorthPark Baptist Church and served on the Deacon Board, he also served at Central Baptist in Tarrant and Eastside Baptist in Roebuck. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hessie Quick Ewing and Vance Rowan Ewing; brother, Arnold Eugene Ewing. He is survived by his wife, Billie Dean Ewing; sons, David Michael (Donna) and Steve Wayne (Chanda) Ewing; aunt, Ilene Richey. Services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Bro. Bill Wilks will be officiating. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
