James Herschell Coleman (Pooky) age 82 of Moody, AL passed away on December 28, 2019. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama He was a graduate of Ensley High School and the University of Montevallo. He was an Eagle Scout whose motto was “always be prepared” and he lived up to that motto. He was a veteran of the Marine Corp. He was employed by the City of Birmingham as a firefighter /Paramedic for 34 years. He was a member of the Moody Lions Club and served as president and on other committees. He was also President of the Board of Directors for the Alabama Lions Eyeglass Recycle Center. The Lions motto is “We Serve” and that he did. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Linda Jones Coleman and his son James H. Coleman, Jr (Donna) granddaughters Kristie Cook (Steve), Stephanie Battles (Jeremy) Great Grand Son Chayse Fuller (Amber) Great Grand Daughter Baylie Wood (Jordan) Great Great Grand Children Leighton Fuller and Wheeler Wood. He is also survived by his brother Charles R. Coleman (Joy) He was predeceased in death by his Parents John F and Margie Coleman and three brothers John, Edward and Homer. The service will be at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Tuesday December 31, 2019 with visitation at 1:00 -2:00 and service at 2:00. A special thanks to Five Points Home Health and Affinity Hospice for all their help and support to the family.
