James Cleckler

James Carroll Cleckler, 82, passed peacefully into Jesus' presence on July 29, 2016. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, he attended West End High School where he ran track and played football. His greatest joy was in his church, Berney Points Baptist. A deacon for most of his years, he gave his life for others. A servant of the Lord, all he wanted to do was serve. He was a steel estimator for over 60 years and did contract work after retirement. He was married to his high school sweetheart Gail for 61 years. He is survived by his wife, Gail Collier Cleckler, daughter, Wendy (Jerry) Jackson, son, James Eric Cleckler, grandson, Daniel (Christina) Jackson, granddaughter, Lexie (Chris) Kennedy, granddaughter, Erica Cleckler, great granddaughter Abigail Kennedy, brother, Thomas Cleckler (Gean),many nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by brother Larry Cleckler, and sister Jolaine Cleckler Blackman,Funeral services will be at Berney Points Baptist Church and conducted by his pastor and friend Dr. Anton Fourie. Visitation will be at 11:00-12:00 with service at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Alabama at the Abbey Mausoleum at 2:30.
