Jack Smith

Jack Gene Smith, 80 of Birmingham passed away peacefully Friday February 5, 2010 surrounded by family and friends. Jack is survived by his loving wife Betty Wright, sisters Margie Castleberry and Jewel Tollison, his two daughters Regina (John) Orange, and Tina (Darrrell) Overton, his two sons Jack Jr. (Huldah) and Kevin Lee (Jennifer) and 11 grandchildren. An honorable US Army veteran of the Korean War, Jack was born in Pell City and moved to Birmingham shortly after his marriage to his wife of 54 years, Betty, where they raised their four children. Jack worked as an over the road driver for 40 years until his retirement in 1988. Jack will be remembered as a loving husband and father who was loved by the many people that were touched by his kindness and giving nature. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in Trussville on Saturday February 6th at 4:30 PM for family and 5:00 i�½" 7:00 PM for friends. Funeral services will also be held at this location Sunday February 7t h at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Amedisys Hospice Services or Fair Haven Retirement Home.
