Ida Jean Bourne “Peggy” Steed 87 passed away peacefully at her home in Birmingham, Alabama, October 27, 2021. Peggy was born on January 12, 1934 in Gadsden, Alabama to Jim and Sue Bourne. Peggy graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama at age 16. She married the love of her life, Louis G. Steed, June 14, 1950 at East Lake Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Peggy and Louis were charter members of Roebuck Park Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama where they made many lifelong friends. She is a current member of Valleydale Church in Birmingham. Peggy worked with Louis at South Eastern Jewelers until their retirement. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Louis G. Steed, her parents, Jim and Sue Bourne and her sister, Sue Ann Agnew. Peggy is survived by two sons, David Steed (Johnna) and Mike Steed (Renee’); grandchildren, Jessica Steed Landmon (Nathan), John David Steed (Kayla), Tyler Steed (Lori Anne), Erica Steed Mitchell (Tyler) and Baret Steed; great grandchildren, Nash Landmon, Claire Landmon, Norah Steed, Tanner Steed, Isla Jean Mitchell and Wyatt Mitchell. Peggy is also survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Steed of Huntsville, Alabama, several nieces, nephews and extended family. A special thanks goes out to her niece Pandy Agnew for all she did for Peggy. A special thanks for her caregivers, Sharon Kidd, GiGi Carradine and Jennifer Boggan and also thanks to her many neighbors and friends that cared for her so much.
