Hugh Ryan

Hugh Ryan, known to friends and family as “Tommy” passed away on June 26, 2018, at the age of 78 years. A native of Birmingham, who served in the Air Force and retired from the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center (BJCC) after 45 years and during this time worked very closely with the South Eastern Conference (SEC) and the Birmingham Convention Bureau. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Kirby Ryan and his parents Hugh and Lullie Ryan. Tommy is survived by his two daughters, Tammy Richardson and Christine Germanson (Paul), his granddaughter, Cynthia Christiansen (Rob), and 2 great-grandsons, Bennett and Bowen. His brother-in-law Rick Kirby (Gail) and many cousins. Tommy was a devoted husband, father and friend, who loved to share his excitement of trains as he traveled across the US on countless train trips as well as his love for gospel music. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Visitation will be held Friday June 29, from 4:00pm to 6:30pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Saturday June 30.
