JONES, HOWARD "GOOBER" BRUCE

age 71, of Hueytown, AL passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2013. Bruce was raised in Wylam, AL. He graduated from Ensley High School in 1961 and attended Southern Mississippi prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Kearsarge in Vietnam; he was honorably discharged in May of 1969. He retired from Civil service as an administrator for the city of Hueytown after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Thelma Jones and daughter, Wendy Jones. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Susan Lanier Jones; daughter, Shannon Steber; son, David (Patricia) Courtney; sisters, Cathy Crumley and Barbara Coston: brother, Casey Jones; grandchildren, JT Steber and Abby Courtney; a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home from 5PM to 7PM. Funeral service will be at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Trussville on Friday at 2PM.
