Howard Allen Chandler, of Birmingham, AL died peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 19, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.K. and Mamie Chandler; his brother, Harry Lee Chandler; and sister, Mary Ann Martin. He is survived by his wife of 65 years of marriage, Norma Jean Chandler; son, Richard Wayne Chandler (Debbie); daughters, Jean and Jane Chandler; grandchildren, Laura Wynn (Joel), Richard Cortright (Marissa); and 8 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War (1950-1954), ranked as a Personnel Man Third Class, stationed in Norfolk, VA on the USS Minos ACG-17. He worked as an accountant for Martin Marietta Cement Co. for 30 years and as a courier for Quest Diagnostics for 20 years, until his retirement at the age of 81. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. James Frey and St. Vincent's Hospice and the caregivers of Homewatch. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 12pm in the Chapel at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 9392 Cedar Mountain Road, Pinson, AL 35126.
